PERFORMANCE ARTIST OBSERVATIONS
The three performance artists that I chose to observe are Marina
Abramovic, Vito Acconci, and Joseph Beuys.
For these artists, the act of creating the actual art was
not the main concern. All of the artists were causing social movements or
realizations with their performance pieces by interacting in ways that may make
others feel uncomfortable or may not seem like art at all, but because they each
had a deeper meaning behind their pieces, it is art.
Technology is not relevant or an essential part of their
pieces because they are focused on the interaction of people in their natural
state, which excludes the need of any kind of technology to be present.
There are a lot of things that should be done through
performance art to cause social movements. I feel that it is important for society
to be more accepting of the statements that artists are trying to convey, but
at the same time I feel that is what creates a sense of wonder for people.
